Pro Project Spotlight:
Emperor Paint X Mike's Painting & Decorating
After much research deciding on which product to use on their home, Mike’s Painting & Decorating’s customer decided they wanted to use a top of the range paint that would stand the test of time.
Mike, a self-employed painter and decorator from Swansea recently completed this full exterior decorating project for their customer who was looking to refresh the walls but also provide the property with a durable finish that can withstand the harsh coastal weather.
“This amazing property is finished in the best paint on the market”
Mike began with the process of ensuring the surface was clean and applying Emperor Exterior Cleaner. This fungicidal wash kills organic growth such as algae, moss and lichens to ensure that fungus cannot bloom underneath the paint film once applied. This was particularly important due to the heavy texture of the render which can naturally gather in the nooks and crannies of the dash.
Once cleaned, Mike went through a process of removing all of the failing previous paint that had delaminated from the wall. These areas were scraped back until a ‘firm edge’ where no more failing paint could be removed. Hairlines cracks caused on the render from water ingress were also repaired using a suitable masonry repair filler to ensure the surface was fully sound and to help prevent future cracking.
While areas of the wall that were coated in a previous paint film could be painted directly, the bare, unpainted surfaces where failing paint was removed and where repairs were made were primed using one-coat of Emperor Exterior Primer. This qualified the project for the Emperor Paint lifetime guarantee. This priming layer means that first-coat of paint can adhere to the unpainted surface, while also reducing the porosity of the roughcast in order to ensure the first coat of paint does not soak through into the render and instead creates the required paint film on the wall.
“Using Emperor Paint was a phenomenal experience”
The homeowner selected ‘White’ from our standard colour range as the chosen colour of Emperor Masonry Paint for the project in order to provide the property with a clean, crisp finish and to perfectly compliment the black period frame of the facade.
60L of Emperor Masonry Paint were applied to the detached property with two-coats required, providing a beautiful finish to the roughcast render that has previously faded over-time.
Having used a range of masonry paints from their extensive experience, Mike found that our Emperor Masonry Paint was the perfect choice for the project.
Mike said “the coverage and the quality was fantastic… the finish was just amazing”. With almost double the volume solids of a standard masonry paint, our paint provides a thick, luxurious coating that assists in creating sharp, professional results. Mike continued to say that Emperor Masonry Paint had “a thick quality finish that stands out from the rest”.
“Emperor Paint is light years ahead of the rest when comes to external paint… the best paint on the market”.
Here at Emperor Paint we love seeing the work carried out by our trade community so we would like to thank Mike for allowing us to pleasure of sharing his recent project with us. We are glad they and they’re customer and delighted with the results.
