How long does it last in harsh weather?
The truth is, most lifespans of paints are estimations based on ideal scenarios. But, this doesn’t give a true reflection of how paint performs long-term.
We think performance should be proven, not promised, so we took Emperor Masonry Paint and Emperor Masonry Creme to a UKAS accredited laboratory who subjected them to a 25 year weathering test in accordance with the EAD 090062-00-0404 quality standard.
Both products were found to have no change in performance or appearance after 25 years of harsh weathering, which is why we have complete confidence they will exceed this proven performance. From this, we offer a lifetime guarantee on both products.
Why do most masonry paints fail on coastal and exposed homes?
On homes that are exposed to high levels of rain, often moisture enters the wall faster than it can naturally dry out.
Most masonry paints on the market today are acrylic-based formulations, which are not highly water repellent or highly breathable. This means rain is able to soak into the wall but finds it more difficult to naturally escape after. That build-up causes paint failure, damp and long-term damage to your home.
Can it be applied to previously painted walls?
In the case of Emperor Masonry Paint, this can be applied both to walls that have been previously painted and walls that haven’t.
As an invisible treatment, Emperor Masonry Creme is only designed for bare, unpainted walls to maintain their natural appearance.
Will painting over existing paint still work?
If your home is already painted using another masonry paint, Emperor Masonry Paint will not improve the breathability, but it will not further reduce it either.
Instead, it helps limit further water absorption, giving existing moisture time to escape through the layers already on the wall, rather than continually adding more moisture.
Will this dry my house out?
Yes, by reducing the amount of water entering your home while maintaining natural breathability, your home will slowly release the moisture that it has been soaking up over-time.
