Q. What is the difference between Emperor Masonry Paint & Emperor Masonry Creme?
While Emperor Masonry Paint & Emperor Masonry Creme contain the same super hydrophobic nano-technology, both products are developed for different applications. Emperor Masonry Paint is a coloured waterproof masonry paint that can be applied to bare and previously painted exterior walls. Emperor Masonry Creme on the other hand is a clear system that does not alter the appearance of natural brickwork & masonry, while offering waterproof protection. If you want a coloured finish, Emperor Masonry Paint is best suited for you. If you want to maintain the look of your natural bare, brickwork, apply Emperor Masonry Creme to provide invisible protection.
Q. Do I need to apply Emperor Exterior Cleaner?
Emperor Exterior Cleaner is a fungicidal cleaner that kills any fungal growth on masonry surfaces, ensuring this fungal growth cannot bloom and cause paint failure after application. If you are painting a new surface under 6 months or a surface that does not suffer from visible lichens & green growth, you do not need to apply Emperor Exterior Cleaner. If you have any areas of fungal growth, apply Emperor Exterior Cleaner undiluted to the area and leave to completely dry, which can take approximately two hours.
Q. Do I need to apply a primer or stabiliser when using Emperor Paint products?
Emperor Exterior Primer acts as a primer & stabiliser that is designed to be applied to bare, unpainted surfaces before Emperor Masonry Paint is applied to provide added adhesion & to prevent the paint from soaking through the substrate when applied. If you are painting a surface that has been previously painted, you do not need to apply a primer. When using Emperor Masonry Creme, you must not use a primer as this is an impregnating system.
Q. Do I need to apply Emperor Exterior Primer or can I use another primer?
The highly advanced water repellent & breathable nature of Emperor Masonry Paint means that you must use Emperor Exterior Primer. This contains the same nano-technology as the paint, ensuring optimal long-term performance.
Q. What surfaces are Emperor Masonry Paint & Emperor Masonry Creme suitable for?
Emperor Masonry Paint is suitable to be applied to any bare or previously painted exterior walled surface, including brick, stone, concrete & all types of render. Unlike standard masonry paint, Emperor Masonry Paint is also suitable on silicone render, as it contains the same silicone-based technology. Emperor Masonry Creme is suitable for any bare exterior walled surface, including brick, stone, cement, sandstone & render that has not been painted. Do not apply Emperor Masonry Creme on to any surface that has been previously painted.
Q. How much material do I need to buy for my project?
The amount of material you will need can depend on the product you are using and the surface you are applying it to. For example Emperor Masonry Paint has a coverage of 5-6m2 per litre on smooth surfaces, meaning you will cover 25-30m2 with a 10 litres, based off two-coats. This coverage can almost half when the paint is applied to rough textured surfaces such as pebbledash. Why not use our handy calculator below to see how much you need of each of our Emperor Paint products for your project.
Q. Do I need to mix the paint?
Yes, it is recommended that you thoroughly mix Emperor Masonry Paint before application to ensure that the product is ready for use. The most effective way to mix the product is with a paint mixing paddle attached to a drill.
Q. When will my order be delivered?
