For years homeowners and professionals up and down the country have loved the performance of our Emperor Masonry Paint, but there has been one limitation, it is only available in light and pastel shades.
The reason is simple, due to the composition of Emperor Masonry Paint this isn’t possible. In short, the amount of colourant required to achieve a dark colour in this unique, silicone-based formulation would dilute the quality of the paint. It is our goal to offer the very best masonry paint possible, so this wasn’t an option for us.
The reality is however, sometimes you need a dark colour. Whether it’s to make a bold statement, create contrast on plinths and other areas of trim or simply to match what you already have on your home. The problem was, our community didn’t want to compromise their home by using a low breathability paint or a paint they couldn’t trust.
So, we set off on a mission to create a brand-new formulation that improved on standard masonry paints, provided high breathability and durability, but could be mixed into dark shades for those who wanted a better alternative to standard masonry paint.
The result is Dark by Emperor Paint, our first ever masonry paint available in dark colours. Dark is a pure acrylic resin formulation with all of the quality you expect from us here at Emperor Paint, but available in ‘Black’ and ‘Anthracite Grey’.
While having a slightly higher SD value than our Emperor Masonry Paint, Dark is still highly breathable with an SD value of 0.14, well below the 0.5 rating that is often considered breathable by British Standards.
Gone are the days when you needed to compromise between using a highly breathable masonry paint and getting the colour you want. With Dark, you can still maintain the natural breathability of your home while using beautiful, dark shades.
