Emperor Masonry Paint

Masonry paint is designed to protect exterior walls such as brick, stone and render from rain, frost, UV exposure and general weathering, while giving the surface an attractive painted finish.

A good masonry paint does more than add a touch of colour. It keeps the rain out, supports the health of the wall and protects your home long-term against the damage the weather can bring year after year.

Breathability is a term used within the building industry to describe how a substrate allows water vapour to pass through it.

Independent scientific testing confirmed that Emperor Masonry Paint is highly breathable, with an SD value of 0.03. This means it had little effect on breathability and did not restrict the movement of air and moisture.

The Emperor range of products have been independently tested by a United Kingdom Accredited Testing Laboratory (UKAS) to confirm their performance. The products were awarded four certifications; EAD 040083-00-0404 (external thermal insulation composite), EAD 090062-00-0404 (25 year hygrothermal performance), BS EN ISO 12572 (water vapour resistance) and BS EN ISO 7783:2011 (water vapour diffusion).

Emperor Masonry Paint has also been awarded the BBA Agrément Certification, a mark of excellence based on national and European standards. It passed every quality standard required as part of the testing, further validating the performance of our formulation across durability, weather resistance and resistance to growth.

It varies on different substrates, but generally it has a coverage rate of approximately 5-6m² per litre on smooth surfaces.

On rougher textures, this will be reduced be almost half. Specific details about the coverage of each of the products can be found on our datasheets.

Applying it is just like any other masonry paint. It can be done via brush, roller or airless spray machine and by anyone no matter your experience level, with the help of our useful guides.
