The British Board of Agrément (BBA) was established in 1966 as a government-backed initiative to independently test and certify building products across the UK, later evolving into the trusted authority in construction compliance and quality assurance. The BBA Agrément Certification represents the highest order of product certification available in the UK, setting the standard for product testing and independent product evaluation.

THE BBA
A mark of excellence
The British Board of Agrément (BBA), is the UK’s leading independent certification body that verifies the quality and performance of construction products. The BBA Agrément Certificate is a mark of excellence based on national and European standards given to products that pass the certification process to provide homeowners, contractors and architects confidence in the reliability and long-term performance of the product.
PUT TO THE TEST
The certification process
To achieve the BBA Agrément Certificate, Emperor Masonry Paint was put through a process of rigorous testing to independently validate its performance and the overall quality of our production process. The process included laboratory product tests, production evaluations, building regulation checks and audits of the quality management.
The hard work for us doesn’t stop there. The Agrément Certificate requires regular reviews and continual organised evaluations to ensure a long-term commitment to upholding only the highest standards.
Certified by results, not claims
As part of the BBA Agrément certification process a total 12 standardised laboratory tests were conducted on Emperor Masonry Paint. Each test is designed to assess a specific aspect of a masonry coatings performance, from durability and water absorption, to breathability and resistance to cracking – providing a comprehensive and objective evaluation to industry recognised standards.
