Emperor Masonry Paint
Product Datasheet
A cutting-edge, silicone-based super hydrophobic masonry paint. Suitable for use on brick, stone, render, previously painted exterior walls and more.
Finish
Matt
Composition
Water-based
Inspection
Prior to painting, check the integrity of the render. A simple method is to use a small tack hammer, gently tap the render and if the sound is hollow then the render has detached from the wall. It must be hacked off then made good with a suitable render repair system. Allow the render repair to fully cure, which will take approximately 24 hours.
Preparation
Clean the whole area using a pressure washer, removing all contamination and allow to dry. If you are coating previously painted render remove all loose and flaking material. This will normally happen at the power wash stage but if any loose and flaking material is still evident then hand sand back to a firm edge. Apply Emperor Masonry Cleaner on to all areas that have had moss, mould or fungal growth. Allow this to dry for a minimum 3 hours at 20ยฐC temperature. At lower temperatures the drying time will be extended.
Application Conditions
Minimum temperature 5ยฐC.
Application Method
Brush, paint roller or airless spray.
Application
Prior to commencement of the application you must ensure the surface is fully dry and it must be above 5ยฐC. On bare, unpainted surfaces you must apply Emperor Masonry Primer, which can be applied by brush, roller, low pressure pump or airless spray. Allow the Primer to dry for between 3-5 hours at 20ยฐC – at lower temperatures it will take longer. Ensure you mix the paint thoroughly before use with a paddle.
1.ย Apply the first coat of Emperor Masonry Paint at approximately 5-6m2 per litre. The first coat must be allowed to fully dry for a minimum of 8 hours before applying the second coat. The first coat can be diluted by 10% with water, which we recommend.
2. Apply the second coat once again at 5-6m2 and leave to dry for a further 8 hours minimum. This second coat must be undiluted.
On textured surfaces the coverage rate can be as low as 2-3m2 per litre. If you are applying Emperor Masonry Paint by airless spray on to a textured surface we recommend a colleague follows with a long pile roller to spread the coating thereby optimising the coverage.
Storage
Must be stored in dry, frost free conditions preferably at room temperature.
Restrictions
At 20ยฐC the product is touch dry in approx 2 hours. It can be recoated after approx 8 hours at 20ยฐC temperatures. When the temperature is below 5ยฐC it should not be applied. Avoid painting in direct sunlight when temperatures are above 25ยฐC. Cannot be applied to elastomeric painted surfaces or retaining walls.
Cleaning
Clean equipment with warm soapy water.
